Safe Driving in Tenerife

  • Mountain roads: Tenerife has winding mountain roads. Take them slowly, stay in your lane, and use lower gears on steep descents.
  • Speed limits: Urban areas: 50 km/h | Roads: 90 km/h | Highways: 120 km/h. Always follow posted signs.
  • Parking: Park only in legal spots. Blue zones require payment during business hours. Avoid yellow lines.
  • Roundabouts: Yield to traffic already in the roundabout. Signal when exiting.
  • Documents: Always carry your driving license, ID, and insurance documents (available in the app).
  • Alcohol: The legal limit is 0.5 g/L blood alcohol. We recommend not drinking at all if you're driving.

Emergency Procedures

In Case of an Accident

  2. 2. Call the police (091) if there are injuries or significant damage.
  3. 3. Take photos of the scene, damage, and other vehicles involved.
  4. 4. Exchange information with other drivers (name, license plate, insurance).

If the Car Breaks Down
